Is it Friday yet?

I know the weekend just passed but it goes by soo quickly that I am looking forward to the next one. We are experiencing beautiful weather here on the East Coast and I am enjoying every moment. I did some cleaning this weekend and Saturday I taught my class at the Assisted Living facility. We made Halloween treat boxes. I was a little nervous that they would not like them but they did, especially after they found out that I actually brought in candy to fill them, hehe. It took them almost an hour to cover the card stock with the pattern paper. It is funny I pre-cut the paper and tried to get them to select coordinating patterns but those ladies (and one gentlemen) had their own agenda so I just stepped back and assisted when needed, lol.  I did have one resident who began eating so much candy that I had to take her basket, I didn't want to get in trouble for making anyone sick! I almost got a picture of my class, Jada went with me and I asked her to take pictures for me but being a typical teen she took pictures of herself instead, lol.

I spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with my girls. They crack me up,they are like a comedy duo when they are together. Every time Jasmin is home from school they lay in bed on the weekends until they smell the bacon and then you just hear the stampede down the steps. Home fries, scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, brown sugar and honey sausages and toast - who would turn that down, lol.

Other than that my crafting mojo has been a little M.I.A.  I did go through my paper collections and at least looked at a couple of my WIPs but nothing completed just yet. Happily it is eggnog season at our Wine and Spirit shop, (ours are State owned and operated so the selection and cost are super regulated), maybe it will lift my crafting spirits, lol or at least my spirits in general, haha!

Kitchen Cake

I have been wanting a reason to do one of these for a while!  My husband's job is having an bridal shower for a sweet young lady today and of course he recruited me to provide our gift. To wish her well I made a towel cake or as I like to call it a Kitchen cake. There are four dish towels, four dish cloths, two oven mitts, four utensils, including an adorable dish brush (which is the reason why I went with the pink and black color scheme). I included a heart shaped pick that has the "Recipe for a Happy Marriage" poem that I found on the Internet and the couple's initials. I think I have found my newest addiction, I have sooo many ideas swirling around now!

I hope everyone has a great crafty weekend! Tootles!

My Pride and Joy

My oldest daughter came home from college for two weeks and it was such a joy having her around. She just finished her first semester (she started over the summer) and she is excited about the fall semester. I fell in love with this photo of her that I stole copied from her instagram and decided it went well with my package of unopened Summer's End that I am hoarding saving by Fancy Pants. This also is my second and final Guest Designer layout for the Sketch~n~Scrap blog. I am so very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their blog. You should pop over and see what the design team members created and maybe even particpate in the challege yourself.

Two tone tip -
To add a little more variety to my pleated flowers I cut a thin strip of contrasting paper the same length as my main color strip.............
glued them together using my ATG gun and.....................

then I scored them using my Martha Stewart scoreboard every 1/4 inch, folded the pleats and Voila, my blue flower is now blue and brown.

And the Beat Goes on.......

My teenage daughter asked me to do a birthday card for a friend of her's at school. Masculine cards are a challenge for me and then a teenage masculine card made it even more challenging. I found an image on my Slice that reminded me of the Beats headphones that are pretty popular noways among the kids so I hope he likes it. I embossed the white cardstock with the stars embossing folder and all of the cuts were done using my Slice. I added stickles to the headphones to make the card pop a little.

Then after seeing this card using negative space by Jojorenee I knew that I wanted to lift it. So using a couple of my butterfly punches I backed the negative space with patterned paper and used white on white cardstock that I embossed using my Cuttlebug. I used my MM tag maker for the vellum tag and stamped it using a Papertrey Ink stamp. I topped the card off with some of my favorite May Arts ribbon with a pretty bow. I am also entering this card into the current Simon Says challenge. The prizes are amazing, you should check it out.

Card Anarchy!!!

Vrrrooommmm, Vrrrooooommmm I need to get my engines revved up! I kind of bombed out on WCMD because my mojo was replaced by Seasons 1 & 2 of Sons of Anarchy. To be honest I had never even heard of this show until one of the actor's (Johnny Lewis) death in real life made the news. Normally this is not my kind of show but the writer has made the characters very interesting and he is married to Katey Sagal and she has a great role on this show. The characters struggle with their chosen lifestyle and wanting to do better and in some ways don't we all have an inner struggle. I am on Season 3 now and will have to wait for Netflix to add Season 4 but don't worry I managed to get enough done to share with you today, lol. Have a great day!

Simon Says Card kit featuring Basic Grey Papers

First birthday card using DCWV stack

Another Simon Says card kit, I messed up on the embossing but we are just going to act
like that was suppose to happen, lol.

Day Trippin'

I am back! My job updated their  IE browser woohoo! So now I can share my first Sketch~n~Scrap Guest Designer layout. They are offering a great prize so be sure to pop over and check them out.

For ths layout I combined Basic Grey's PB&J with Simple Stories Summer fresh. These are photos of my daughter when she was graciuos enough to accompany me to the CKC convention in Lancaster. I was going for texture with this layout so I created my own pinwheel flower. For the banner on the left I used a strip of denim from an old pair of jeans. The Thickers are orange fabric thickers and the burlap flower has a denim button in the middle. I tried stitching on this layout but you can barely see it. I don't know if my tension is too tight or my thread too thin, any suggestions??
